Sexual intercourse is not recommended during radiation therapy in the abdominal and pelvic areas, as radiation can affect the internal reproductive organs, including the ovaries, uterus, vagina, and the glands responsible for producing lubrication within the vagina. This may result in vaginal dryness, itching, or the discharge of clear fluid, which occurs due to the destruction of the tumor and inflammation of the vaginal lining. However, these symptoms are not harmful. It is advised to refrain from sexual intercourse during radiation therapy and for approximately 2-3 months after the therapy, as inflammation of the vaginal lining may increase the risk of infection.
